Catherine Wilson

Catherine Wilson is a vet in the first year of her Wellcome Trust Clinical PhD Fellowship with the University of Liverpool.

She is currently based at the Malawi-Liverpool Wellcome Trust Centre undertaking the PhD entitled 'The epidemiology of E. coli and non-typhoidal Salmonella at a household level in Malawi'.

During this PhD she will be taking stool samples from humans, animals and the environment of households located in urban and rural areas of Malawi and determine the diversity of these bacteria present. Catherine completed an MPhil to investigate the prevalence and AMR profile of non-typhoidal Salmonella in pigs in Kenya and Malawi in 2018, and prior to this worked as a practising vet for seven years in various areas of the UK, Ireland, The Gambia, Egypt and Kenya.
