Dr Barry Rowlingson
Barry is a Research Fellow in the Centre for Health Informatics, Computing, and Statistics in the Medical School at Lancaster University.
His role includes developing statistical software and methods for health mapping and disease modelling; teaching geographic information systems and spatial statistics; and PhD supervision. He is a charter member of the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo), has taught at three Geostat Summer Schools, and mentored three Google Summer of Code students (and has the t-shirts to prove it). As an advocate for open source software, he was a Sustainable Software Institute Fellow and works with Python, R, QGIS and open source web and database stacks.
