Jonathan Rigby
Jon is currently a research assistant for the ERST project with Dr Nick Feasey.
The project involves collecting samples from the environment and using novel culture-based approaches to isolate S. Typhi. Working off-site for the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), Jon is based in London at the Food, Water and Environment Laboratory (FW&E), Public Health England (PHE) in Colindale, with the Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome Trust (MLW) in Malawi, and the College of Medicine (CoM). In 2012 he graduated from the University of Portsmouth (UoP) with a BSc in Environmental Microbiology and Biotechnology followed by an MSc in Medical Microbiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) in 2014. Prior to this employment post, he held a position with the Gastrointestinal Bacteria Reference Unit (GBRU) at PHE for three years.
His research interests include: enteric pathogens – particularly Samonella and Campylobacter spp., antimicrobial resistance and zoonotic and tropical disease.
